Forest School – May 2019
Children from Year 3 and 4 have been enjoying the sight of the bluebell woodland. We have picked nettles (with minimal stings) to make nettle crisps and munched young beech leaves and garlic mustard.

On Friday, we were joined by Councillor Alan Connett, our PTA and parents for the grand opening of our gym wall. Our wonderful PTA was thanked for their fundraising efforts, as well as Councillor Connett for the Council’s generous contribution. The ribbon was excitedly cut and our gym wall was declared as ‘Officially Open!’ A…
Over the last 12 months, it has been fairly quiet on the Academy front. As you may know, the building and school land at Kenton belong to Kenton Church Land Trustee Board, to which rent is paid. The Lease renewal is still in the process of being resolved and final papers to join Teignmouth Learning…
Classes 1 and 2 had a fantastic day out in the sunshine at West Town Farm. The children’s day was packed full! They found out about cows and sheep and saw newborn calves and lambs. They learnt about the importance of bees in our ecosystem, walked through orchards and fields, hunted for signs of badgers…
After spending the last few weeks finding out about the Mayans, rainforests and plants, there was only one place we could visit – The Eden Project. The children had to complete a Chocology workshop. This involved finishing out about the history of chocolate before entering the rainforest biome to hunt for hidden treasure chests that…

The children worked, over a period of time, on trying to unpick and understand the meaning of our school vision – ‘Aspire, believe and flourish…
Year 5 and 6 have had a varied time at forest school so far with summery-hot days following wild and windy weather all within the course of a fortnight! We couldn’t go to the woods due to a bull loose at the farm so we stayed and played lots of games at school before making…
Years 1 and 2 met their Kenpals from Kenton at Dawlish Warren to help Dea clear rubbish from the beach. Dawlish Warren was very clean but we still managed to collect lots of plastic, string and paper. It was a great morning and we are all very grateful to the parents and helpers who made…
As part of Science week, Years 1 and 2 made some motorised Lego vehicles. They designed, made and tried them out. We had great fun and learnt all about how to make models strong and how to use gears.
What glorious weather Class 4 had for our residential last week! The children (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed themselves and formed some lovely memories with the Kenton children. The children tackled some incredible challenges during their stay – some of which included making a bed, carrying a suitcase up and down 42 stairs and abseiling down…
